Can we use a Celebrant instead of a Registrar?

At the moment, I’m afraid not.

Changes are being planned where this will be possible, hopefully in the near future. At the moment, couples normally have their short legal ceremony at the Register Office either a few days before or on the morning of the Wedding or Civil Partnership Celebration, although it doesn’t have to be in this order. Some couples enjoy the Celebration event first and hold the legal ceremony later. It’s entirely up to you.

In either case, I conduct the Celebration, which is a far more personalised ceremony than the legal ceremony.

I conduct the Celebration before your family and friends, and many couples prefer to think of this as the ‘real ceremony’, a very personal celebration of your partnership and love for each other.

So you still might be asking, ‘Where do I start if I want to book you?’

It was a big wedding and so he wasn’t just our celebrant, he compered the whole event! His speech was perfect, hitting just the right tone of sentiment and laughter, and he worked seamlessly with our wedding organiser to ensure the day went exactly as planned. Thank you. We love you! xxx
